dementia action alliance

Dedicated to transforming the standards of safety, comfort and quality for over 220 years, Vision Support Services, through its specialist Whitakers product brand, is renowned for developing innovative ranges of fit-for-purpose textiles for over 220 years.

With a team of interior design expert’s on-hand, we’ve helped to design, fit and supply some of the UK’s most prestigious healthcare establishments utilising our experience in dementia design from Stirling University.

Now, after recently announcing our status as a Dementia Friend we are now delighted to confirm that Vision is a proud member of Blackburn with Darwen Dementia Action Alliance.

Set up by the Alzheimer’s Society in 2010, the Dementia Action Alliance includes member organisations involved in health or social care from across charity, public and private sectors who have come together with the sole aim of providing a united front against dementia.

With over 850,000 people estimated to be living with dementia in the UK alone, it’s an honour for Vision to get involved in such a worthwhile project; not least because of the prestigious range of healthcare clients we’ve previously worked with including Bupa, the Anchor Trust and One Housing Group.

Skilled at delivering creative solutions for care and nursing homes from creating familiar designs to tailored functionality and visual stimulation, Vision also supply a range of dementia-friendly furniture putting health, safety and comfort at the top of the agenda.

As part of the DAA, members are encouraged to use their collective expertise in order to influence government policy and, with this new membership, Vision will be committed to fulfilling the Dementia Action Alliance action plans which include; talking to our customers to reduce stigma and improve services for those with dementia, attending quarterly meetings to share knowledge and to spread the word in order to grow the community.

Our staff have been specifically trained to understand the diverse needs of those living with dementia through their varied and continuous work with the care sector and so joining the DAA is a natural progression for the company which we are delighted to be a part of.

As a company, we are committed to alleviating some of the difficulties faced by those living with dementia; particularly through our work in care home design and all of the team at Vision now welcome this new opportunity, in being able to raise awareness of dementia, even further.
